Son of a Mafia Hitman to Speak at UW-River Falls
Albert DeMeo, son of a Mafia hitman, will speak at UW-River Falls on Nov. 11 as part of the Wyman Concerts and Lectures Series.
DeMeo is the son of Mafia hitman and Gambino family capo, Roy DeMeo. His father was one of the most feared gangsters of all time and the mastermind of New York City's largest auto-theft ring in history.
DeMeo recounts his painful childhood growing up with a feared and hated man who was also a loving father and faithful provider. He also tells how his father eventually made him his confidante and accomplice.
He takes away the glamour that movies give to Mafia life and shows how lives were shattered and lost.
DeMeo's book, "For the Sins of My Father," recounts the rise and fall of his father and gives incredible perspective into the world of organized crime.
The lecture begins at 7 p.m. at the North Hall Auditorium. General admission is $5 for non-students. For more information, call 715/425-4911.
