Freshman Featured in UW-RF Music Concert
As a celebration of Hispanic history and culture, UW-River Falls will host a concert that combines a performance of its Concert Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Dance Theatre.
"Llenos estan los cielos y la tierra de Tu Gloria!" (Heaven and earth are filled with glory!) will be performed in the Blanche Davis Theater in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building at 8 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20, and at 3 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Tickets prices are $4 for adults, $3 for students, $1.50 for children, and free for children under 12.
The production features works celebrating the history and culture of representative Hispanic nations. Soprano Sara Williamson will be featured in Gian Carlo Menotti's "Muero porque no muero." Menotti's cantata was commissioned by the Discalced Carmelite Order in honor of the Fourth Centenary of the death of its foundress, St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582).
The Dance Theatre will perform its fiery piece, "La Bomba." All three ensembles will combine to perform Ariel Ramierz's "Misa Criolla." Tenor Michael Reich, a freshman music major from Cameron, Wis., will serve as caller in this folk mass that is based on the traditions and rhythms of Latin American dance music.
