UW-RF Plans events for Alumni at Homecoming Weekend

UW-River Falls has scheduled activities and events for visiting alumni and friends over homecoming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28.

Before heading to Ramer Field at 1 p.m to cheer the Falcons as they take on the UW-LaCrosse Eagles in the homecoming game, alumni and friends will be hosted at a complimentary continental breakfast in the deli area on the main level of Hagestad Student Center, from 10-11 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m., the Student Alumni Association will provide a 45-minute guided tour of the campus. The tour will depart from the deli area of the Student Center.

The annual Trick-or-Treat Volleyball Tournament will be held at Karges Physical Education Center, at 1:30 p.m. as the Falcons take on Augustana and at 3:30 against UW-Superior.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ramer Field, alumni, parents and friends can gather at Freddyıs Tailgate under the big tent for a brat and beer feed. Kickoff for the game is at 1 p.m.

Tickets purchased for the football game will also provide admission to the hockey game scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Saturday, when the UW-RF Falcons take on the Marian College Sabres from Fond du Lac at Hunt Arena. Tickets will also be on sale at the door.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet, also on Saturday evening, will be held at Rodli Commons from 5-9 p.m. The reception will begin at 5, dinner will be served at 6, and at 7 the ceremonies will begin for the induction of eight former students into the UW-RF Athletic Hall of Fame.

The public is invited to attend the banquet. Tickets are $15. They can be reserved and picked up at the door on Saturday evening, or purchased and picked up at the University Foundation Office on the third floor of South Hall. To obtain tickets, call 715/425-3505.

On Sunday, the annual UW-RF homecoming concert will be held in the Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building at 3 p.m. A reception in the lobby will follow the concert. The concert, "United as One, We Can Sing Forever," has been a tradition of UW-RF homecoming for the past 30 years.

Five choirs will participate: the Concert Choir, the University Choir, the Menıs and Womenıs Choruses, and the Alumni Choir, consisting of UW-RF graduates and directed by Professor Emeritus Elliot Wold.

In addition, individual alumni performers will sing solos and Rick Gaynor , lecturer in the UW-RF music department, will perform on the trombone.
