English Conductor Leading Opera Performance

A master class featuring internationally renowned accompanist and opera coach Patrick Healy will perform on Oct. 23, at 2 p.m., in William Abbott Concert Hall, located in Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Musical selections will include University of Wisconsin-River Falls students and arrangements from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado." This concert is free and open to the public.

Patrick Healy is a musical director to England's D'Oily Carte Opera Company. He is recognized as an authority on Gilbert and Sullivan and annually produces and performs in such productions at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland. Healy spent 12 years with the English National Opera, in London, England, as a repetiteur and accompanist. He has often appeared on the BBC and has served as a radio host on the RTE.

Healy is currently touring the U.S. as a vocal coach and accompanist to the renowned Irish tenor Anthony Kearns. His charm and wit are evident in his light-hearted, hilarious performances. The UW-RF College of Arts and Sciences and the Croix Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus sponsor this event.
