UW-RF Homecoming Choral Concert Planned
Homecoming marks a weekend where alumni come back to River Falls to participate in events and see old friends. But there is more to the weekend than the highlight of a Falcons football game.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. the UW-RF Choirs will present its 32nd annual Homecoming concert.
Performing under the direction of Elliot Wold will be the Alumni Choir, UW-RF Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. The Alumni Choir will perform some of the same songs featured in its 1997 Summer European Concert Tour. An estimated 65 alumni are expected back for this event.
The concert will end with all the choirs combining to sing five songs. One of the combined choir numbers will be Brahms' "An Die Heimat" (My Homeland). This number relates well to the theme of homecoming. It talks about home and coming back to the place of joy and memories in life.
The concert will be held in Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. There is no admission for this event.
This is director Wold's 35th year of teaching at UW-River Falls. He plans on retirement this coming spring.
