UW-RF Rodeo Results Reported

Crowds gathered around the UW-River Falls rodeo arena Sept. 17-188 for the chance
to see college students from around the Midwest compete in nine rodeo events.
They watched intently as bulls and broncs tried to buck off riders, steers were
wrestled to the ground, and riders urged their horses through the barrel-racing
pattern at the 40th Annual Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo.
The overall competition was fierce, but it was Dickinson State University that
pulled ahead to win the men's overall team competition with 330 points. South
Dakota State University came in second with 275 points and Sitanka/Huron University
took third with 240 points.
National American University won the women's overall team competition title
with 240 points. SDSU came in second with 150 points and Dickinson State University
placed third with 130 points.
In the men's all-around competition Jason Lawrence of Dickinson State took the
title, while Rollie Wilson of Sitanka/Huron University took second and Kyle
Francis of Dickinson State took third.
Jena Lien of NAU won the women's all-around competition title.
Oscar Heidler of NAU led the saddle bronc riding competition. Tatum Longbrake
and Lee Olsen, both from Dickinson State University took second and third
Bareback riding was won by Joseph Gunderson of SDSU. Rollie Wilson, representing
Sitanka/Huron University took second, while Eric Alderson from Dickinson State
University took third.
Northeast Community College's Christopher Bernt won the bull riding competition.
He was followed by Tater Hins of Sitanka/Huron and Tyler Bode from the Nebraska
College of Technical Agriculture.
The tie down roping competition winner was Kyle Smith from Dickson State University.
Cullen Wilson, SDSU, and Jake Slater, NECTA, took second and third, respectively.
Jason Lawrence, Dickinson State University, claimed the steer wrestling competition.
Wade Kunze of Iowa Central Community College took second and Jade Berry of Sitanka/Huron
University took third.
The team roping duo of Lee Olsen, Dickinson State University, and Logan Schlinz,
SDSU, took first place in their division. Kyle Francis, Dickinson State University,
and Cullen Wilson, SDSU, took second place in the team roping competition. Matthew
Wheeler, NAU, and Jason Lawrence, Dickinson State University, placed third.
In the women's competition, Jessica Mueller, NAU, took first place in barrel
racing. Jena Lien, NAU, took second place and Lindsey Black, SDSU, took third
place.
Heidi Uecker, Dickinson State University, won the breakaway roping class. Lacey
Curr of Sitanka/Huron University placed second and Audra Barton, SDSU, placed
third.
Jessica Painter, NAU, led the goat tying competition. Rebecca Schroeder and
Jacquelyn Murray, both from SDSU, took second and third respectively.
The Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo was organized by the UW-RF Rodeo Club. Mitchell
Whyte, the club vice president and rodeo coordinator said the rodeo went really
well due to the hard work of the rodeo club members. The 40 club members pulled
together to organize the event resulting in one of the best rodeos yet.
