UW-RF Plans Alumni Events for Homecoming Weekend
UW-River Falls has scheduled activities and events for visiting alumni and friends over homecoming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 and 6. As an added attraction this year, the music department will sponsor a piano sale over the weekend.
On Saturday, alumni and friends are invited to join their classmates and other friends for continental breakfast and refreshments in the deli area of Hagestad Student Center from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Student Alumni Association will provide a 45minute guided campus tour departing from the deli area at 10:30 a.m.
Also at the Student Center, Chancellor Ann Lydecker will host a question and answer session at 10:30 a.m. in the President's Room. The open forum will include information on new campus initiatives, budget challenges, new building projects, student enrollment, projections for the future, and more.
The Homecoming Bookstore Sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Bookstore located in the Student Center.
The Colt Barn Dedication Ceremony and Tours will take place at Campus Laboratory Farm 1. All alumni are invited to tour the new colt barn from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and participate in the dedication ceremony beginning at 11:30 p.m. in the lobby of the new colt barn. Refreshments will be provided.
The College of Business and Economics will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate its new facilities in South Hall. The College will provide refreshments for the event.
The homecoming game between the Falcons and UW-Whitewater will kick off at 1 p.m. at Ramer Field. Fans are invited to attend Freddy's Tailgate party for brats and beer from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the pavilion near the concession stand.
Several special homecoming reunions will take place on Saturday. The Alumni Marching Band reunion will take place at Bo's 'N Mine from 10 a.m. to noon. A marching and pep band party will follow the football game at 4 p.m. at the Copper Kettle restaurant in River Falls.
The football alumni reunion will start with a team breakfast at 9 a.m. in Rodli Commons. Following the game, a fifth-quarter reception will take place at Slapshots on Main Street in River Falls.
The music department invites alumni to a band/wind ensemble reunion. A band rehearsal will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in the Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building, with a reception at Copper Kettle at 4 p.m. A choir rehearsal will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Abbot Concert Hall, and the choir alumni will hold a potluck dinner at the Ruth and Ken Lee home in River Falls. Alumni from both departments are invited to a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. in Rodli Commons. The cost of the luncheon is $5.25 per person.
Theta Chi alumni are invited to the annual meeting at the Theta Chi Chapter House starting at 9 a.m. Informal activities will take place throughout the weekend.
All volleyball alumni are invited to take part in the women's volleyball reunion. The reception will be held at Bo's 'N Mine immediately following the football game.
The Alumni Homecoming Concert will take place on Sunday. A dress rehearsal will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Kleinpell Fine Arts building. The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the William Abbott Concert Hall. It is open to the public and admission is free. The program will include music selections by UW-RF chamber singers, choir alumni, band alumni, UW-RF Concert Choir and combined choirs.
Throughout Homecoming weekend, the music department will sponsor a piano sale. The department's pianos are replaced periodically, and the used instruments are available to the public for purchase at prices significantly lower than market value. The pianos will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the Syse Theatre of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building.
