Wyman Series Presents "Scholars of London" at UW-River Falls
"The Scholars of London," a vocal ensemble, will perform at the UW-River Falls Abbott Concert Hall on Oct. 13. They are the second installment in the Wyman Concerts and Lectures Series.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Non-student admission is $5.
Scholars sings a cappella in the English choral tradition. They have been performing since 1970.
They named themselves the "Scholars" because the original members of the group all received scholarships to Cambridge University to sing in the famous choir of King's College Chapel.
They have given more than 2,500 concerts in more than 50 countries in some of the world's most famous concert halls, such as the New YorkÕs Lincoln Center, the Sydney Opera House and LondonÕs Royal Festival Hall.
Robin Doveton, a tenor, and David van Asch, a bass-baritone, are two of the group's founding members. Kym Amps, a soprano, joined the group in 1984. Angus Davidson, a countertenor, joined the ensemble in 1986.
