Olson to Discuss Biotechnology in Grain Industry
Ron Olson, vice president of grain operations for General Mills, will speak at UW-River Falls on Oct. 27 as part of the College of Business and Economics Executive in Residence program.
Free and open to the public, OlsonŐs presentation will be held in the River Room of Rodli Commons from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The lecture will cover biotechnology in the grain industry.
Olson brings more than 30 years of experience to the CBE Executive in Residence program. He received a B.S. in ag economics as well as a M.S. in Economics from Iowa State University. Olson has worked as vice president and regional manager of the Northwest Region for Continental Grain Co. from 1981 to 1990 and as president of Atwood-Kellogg Co. from 1990 to 1995, before joining General Mills in his current position in 1996.
Active in the National Grain and Feed Association, Kansas City Board of Trade, the Chicago Board of Trade and the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Olson also serves on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Ag Advisory Board and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Biotech Advisory Board in Washington D.C. Currently, he is the board chairman of the Ag and Food Science Academy High School, a St. Paul charter school with primary focus on agriculture and food technology.
