Course in America's War History Offered

In the 228 years since the Americans engaged in battle with the British at Lexington and Concord, there has been at most, 25 years in which the United States forces were not fighting someone, somewhere.

This startling fact is one of many uncovered in the course "America at War" offered at UW-River Falls and three off-site locations in Barron, Grantsburg and Somerset, on Thursday evenings beginning Sept. 4.

America at War is a three-credit course that surveys the country's military history from colonial times to the present, according to instructor David Riggs. It designed for undergraduate and graduate students, social study teachers and anyone with an interest in history or military studies.

In addition to a River Falls campus location, the course will be broadcast via interactive television to Barron High School, Grantsburg High School and Somerset High School. Registration for the course is open now.

For tuition information and registration instructions, visit the web site at or contact the Outreach and Graduate Studies office at 715/425-3256 or 800-228-5607.
