Financial Planning Class Offered
Distinguish yourself in the field of financial planning and advising by becoming a Certified Financial Plannerª professional.
This fall, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will offer the first of five classes that meet the education requirement for Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. CFP¨ certification. The class, Financial Planning Process and Insurance, will meet Thursday evenings from Sept. 9 to Dec. 9 at the St. Croix County Government Center in Hudson, one mile north of Interstate Hwy. 94.
The class focuses on the basics for successful financial planning, the time value of money concepts, and the legal, ethical and regulatory issues affecting financial planning. The course will also cover insurance principles and risk management concepts that will help professionals in identifying their clientsÕ needs. The UW-River Falls Financial Planning Certificate Program is registered with CFP Board, which awards the CFP¨, Certified Financial Planner ª and CFP (with flame logo) certification marks.
Students who complete all courses in the program are eligible to take the national CFP¨ Certification Examination administered by CFP Board. With class location conveniently close to the eastern suburbs of the Twin Cities, this program is the only CFP Board-registered program offered in west central Wisconsin. In addition to preparing individuals for CFP¨ certification, the program provides practical training for anyone employed in financial services, legal or administrative professions. The courses may also meet continuing education requirements for a variety of professions.
