UW-River Falls Presents "Views from the Barn Door"
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is sponsoring a spirited program of song, verse and prose that explores our changing culture and landscape. "Views from the Barn Door: Our Changing Culture and Landscape" will take place Sept. 18 at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin.
The event will present a thought-provoking look at the changes taking place in the St. Croix River Valley as symbolizedby the loss of the barn. This free program is offered in conjunction with "Our Heartland: Contemporary Images of Rural Life," an exhibition at The Phipps Center.
"Views from the Barn Door" is a collaborative venture of the UW-River Falls College of Arts and Sciences and several community organizations in support of the St. Croix Valley Barnstorm Wisconsin, 2003 Year of the Barn. The public is invited to attend a reception and gallery tours from 6 Ð 7 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and will include music, a dramatic reading by local performer and writer Laurie Almann and the entertaining observations of Al Batt, writer, speaker, storyteller and humorist.
The Phipps Center for the Arts is located on the scenic St Croix River in historic downtown Hudson, just north of I-94 at 106 Locust St. Parking is available on the street and in nearby public lots.
