New Campus Daycare Center Enrollment
The UW-River Falls C.H.I.L.D. (Creative Hours in Learning Development) Center has openings for infants, toddlers and preschoolers this fall.
The new facility, to be completed in August, is located on Cascade Avenue on the east end of the UW-RF campus. It includes six classrooms surrounded by a bright, spacious activity area. Outdoor areas have two playground structures—one for infants and the other for toddlers and preschoolers.
Debbie Ryan, the center's director, has a master's degree in early childhood education, and all lead teachers have B.A. degrees or technical certification in early childhood education.
The center enjoys access to highly qualified and enthusiastic student employees. All student teaching assistants meet or exceed state licensing qualifications. In addition, the center serves as a field work site for University programs including early childhood education, elementary education, communicative disorders, social work, counseling, school psychology and others.
The curriculum uses a theme-based approach in planning activities and meets criteria set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The daily schedule includes play in prepared environment, group activities in music, reading and storytelling, and outdoor play. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided daily.
The center is licensed by the state of Wisconsin and serves children ages six weeks to 10 years regardless of race, color, creed, sex, disability or national origin. It is open year-round from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The infant room closes at 5:30 p.m.
Weekly full-time rates for community families are $170 for infants, $160 for toddlers and $135 for preschoolers. University students receive a discount. An open house is planned in September. For more information please call center Ryan at 715/425-0656 or visit the center's Web site at www.uwrf.edu/child.
