Golf Tournament Promotes St. Croix Valley Tourism

National Tourism Month will be celebrated by the hospitality and tourism industry in the St. Croix Valley with a golf tournament and a banquet--with a chance for golfers to win a $15,000 Victory motorcycle.

The St. Croix Valley Regional Tourism Alliance, which collaboratively markets 20 communities along the St. Croix, will host two events on Monday, May 12.

Golfers of all abilities are invited to compete for cash prizes at a day of golf followed by a silent auction, a barbequed chicken buffet dinner and a dessert auction at the Kilkarney Hills Golf Course in River Falls, Wis., on Monday, May 12.

During the tournament, golfers will have a hole-in-one challenge for an opportunity to win a Victory Standard Cruiser motorcycle valued at $15,000. The Cruiser is black and silver, and heavily accessorized, including backrest, saddlebags, a tank strap, accessory exhaust system and chrome center tips. It is provided by Polaris Industries of Osceola.

A new event for the Alliance, the tournament will be handicapped best ball, or scramble. The registration fee is $70 per person, which includes greens fees, a golf cart, and dinner. The prize for the first-place team will be $200. The second-place team will receive $100, and third place will win $60.

Non-golfers are invited to the evening Tourism Month banquet, which marks its eighth year as an Alliance annual event. The fee for dinner only is $25 per person. The banquet includes a silent auction and social time are scheduled for 5 to 6:30. Dinner will be served at 6:30, and a dessert auction will follow.

Among the raffle or silent auction items are: $100 toward overnight stay at the Historic Phipps Inn in Hudson; an overnight stay at Escape by the Lake; a three-course afternoon tea party for four at Le THE in Hudson; two VIP sidelines passes to the Kansas City Chiefs/Minnesota Vikings morning practice at UW-River Falls and lunch at the Chiefs Training Table on July 30; A mini-refrigerator donated by Dakota Electric Association; an overnight stay at the Afton House Inn in the Deluxe Jacuzzi/Fireplace Room; an overnight stay at the Super 8 in Hudson in the King Whirlpool Suite; tickets to the St. Croix Festival Theatre; numerous admissions from Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls for canoe rentals, waterslide passes, ski lift tickets, and cruises; golf package from New Richmond Golf Club; Bristol Ridge Golf Club; Twins Tickets; Kansas City Chiefs Limited Edition Training Camp polo shirts; Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railway tickets; gift baskets from numerous chambers and businsses; and more.
