The St. Croix Valley Regional Tourism Alliance will sponsor a gala with a tropical theme aboard the Grand Duchess on the St. Croix River Friday, May 3, to raise funds for SCVRTA projects. The public is invited to attend at a cost of $30 per person.

The boat will launch from Lakefront Park at First and Walnut Streets in Hudson at 6 p.m., and will return at 10:30 p.m. Names of the first 25 people to register will be added to a drawing for four lucky couples to sit at the Captainšs Table.

The evening will begin with a social hour that includes wine and cheese tasting and a cash bar. Immediately following dinner there will be a dessert auction, featuring desserts from throughout the valley region. Tables can bid on the dessert of their choice to be served at their table. Also after dinner, there will be entertainment, a silent auction and a live auction.

Among the many silent auction items are:

•Two VIP passes to the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp at UW-River Falls. Includes escorted sidelines visit for two during morning training camp practice session, listening in on Coach Dick Vermeilšs morning practice media news conference, and lunch at the Chiefs Training Table;

•Golf packages from New Richmond Golf Club, Pine Meadows Golf Course and Bristol Ridge Golf Course;

•$25 gift certificate from the Star Prairie Trout Farm;

• Jewelry from Greaton's Jewelry in New Richmond; and

• Pamper packages for spa visits.

The St. Croix Valley Regional Tourism Alliance is a coalition of communities that work together to promote tourism in the St. Croix Valley region.

The Alliance includes 20 communities in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin and Chisago, Dakota and Washington counties in Minnesota. Dresser, Hudson, New Richmond, Osceola, Prescott, River Falls and St. Croix Falls are all the communities on the Wisconsin side of the river, and Afton, Bayport, Center City, Copas, Hastings, Lake Elmo, Lakeland, Marine-on St. Croix, Oak Park Heights, Scandia, Stillwater and Taylors Falls are on the Minnesota side.

Each year the organization plans an event that provides its members with an opportunity to socialize with each other and with the public. For tickets to this year's event, contact the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau at 1-800-6577-6775 or 715/386-8411 by Friday, April 26.
