UW-RF Presents Annual Spring Concert
The UW-River Falls Dance Theatre will present its annual Spring Concert April 4 -7 at 8 p.m in the Davis Theatre, located in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building on the campus of the University. For more than 20 years, the Spring Concert has been a tradition at the University.
As always, the concert will consist of a unique blend of guest and student choreography. Twin Cities choreographer Torrion Amie will ad a unique dimension to the concert with original music to accompany his dance. UW-RF Dance Theatre alumni Kimberly Johnson and Ricardo Suarez from Minneapolis will return as guest choreographers, to add their inventive and technically demanding works to the program.
The creative work of student choreographers Alison Ritts, Adel Swan, Amanda Lorenz, Mari Kline, Heather Mullinax, Michael Culp, Kari Goodman, Molly Dressen and Cary Bittinger will round out the evening performances. The concert will conclude with a large group piece danced by 35 members of the Dance Theatre, choreographed by director Karla Zhe. Zhe is a professor in the Health and Human Performance department at the University, director of the Dance Theatre, and coordinator of dance programs.
According to Zhe, the University Dance Theatre is comprised of students from a variety of major areas of study. "Most participate in the Dance Theatre as an extracurricular activity, out of a love of the performing arts, and for dance," she said.
Tickets for the concert are $4 for students and children, and $7 for adults. They will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, April 2, through Friday, April 6 , at the ticket office in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building. Tickets will also be available the evening of each performance from 6 to 8 p.m.
