Roman Khrypun
I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Normandale Community College, MN. It was a dream of my childhood to study engineering and science. I have become a US citizen only recently and have to say that this country is very helpful to those who truly want to succeed.
During the summer of 2009, I participated in the internship program with the Physics Department at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, working on the Ice Cube project. Nathan Harris and I investigated the influence of weather on the detection rate of muons produced by cosmic rays. Other projects were to determine the relationship between a camera lens’s focus positions and the object’s distances to the bubble camera in the deep ice at the South Pole. We also investigated finding the size of the objects cached by the camera.
Next fall I will transfer to the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) to complete a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I expect to graduate a few years from now, find a good job, and start enjoying my new found life.
