Cherenkov Tank Setup

IceCube 2007 Home

Here is the inside of the tank. There are three optical modules. The center one is stationary, held 1 meter above the floor of the tank. The two side ones are mobile. They can move to any height or horizontal position.
The large black frame serves as a support for a hood as well as the O.M.s. The white liner is two layers of tyvec. Visible on the left of the tank is black tubing that circulates water through a U.V. filter. The tubing on the right side of the tank is part of a water level meter.

Here is the tank, on its platform, with a second platform above it, and incased in the PVC piping frame. The two platforms are used to place SPASE scintillater boxes above and below the tank. The PVC frame is used as a support for a large tent that surrounds the tank completely to keep out light.

Here is the tent that went over the PVC frame. It is a black and white polyethylene type material. With this setup the tank is light tight.
