Breaking Ground The campus community celebrated the groundbreaking
for the new student union at UW-River Falls April 5.
The student union is designed to be a hub of campus life, as a center
for students to visit friends, attend meetings, study, eat, and participate
in student activities.

University of Wisconsin- River Falls Chancellor-elect Dr. Don Betz, made his first official visit to campus and talked passionately about his visions for the University at a reception for he and his wife, Susanne on March 14 th. UW-System President Kevin P. Reilly also made his first official visit to UW-RF to welcome Dr.Betz. (more)
Working under harsh Antarctic conditions, an international team of scientists, engineers and technicians has set in place the first critical elements of a massive neutrino telescope at the South Pole, developed by a team of academic institutions, including professors and students from UW- River Falls. What can this telescope do when the project is complete? It promises a new window to the heavens and may be astronomy’s best bet to resolve the century-old quest to identify the sources of cosmic rays.(more)
Professor Earl Blodgett, UW-RF alumni ’80, and professor, received the 2003-04 Outstanding Chapter Adviser Award of the Society of Physics Students in January at the meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers. Blodgett, UW-RF chapter advisor since 1997 says he was surprised to “beat out the tough competition”. (more)

UW-River Falls Foundation Board Chairman Jeff McCardle announced grant awards to faculty who submitted proposals for consideration and summer stipend awards for students for students conducting on-campus research this summer. (more)
