Dr.
Don Betz commenced his duties on July 1 as university chancellor and began
meeting with faculty and staff. "I
am focusing on familiarization with the campus, programs, facilities and relations
with the community as well as the UW System," says Betz.
In an email message, Betz sent words of encouragement to the campus community. "As we reconsider the university mission and as we craft our plan of how to live that mission, we will be more successful in telling the UW-RF story and the inextricable connection between university success and our communities and state realizing economic, social and civic goals," he said. More information about the Chancellor's arrival will be featured in the next Falcon Features magazine due out in September.

In 1988, the Office of University Advancement and the WESTconsin Credit Union joined efforts to create a credit card program for alumni, staff, faculty, and friends of UW-RF. Each time cardholders use their cards, WCU returns a percentage of each purchase to the UW-RF Foundation. The Foundation uses those funds to support the UW-River Falls Community Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year to a student who meets the criteria. Over time, the goal is to grow the fund so that multiple scholarships may be awarded to deserving students. To date, the fund totals over $27,000. More
