Collection Summary: The Social Science Department, which existed until academic year 1965/66, was the predecessor of the departments of: Economics and Business Administration, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology.

During the period covered by this series, the chairmen of the department were Drs. Walker D. Wyman (until mid-1962), Charles J. Graham (1962-1963) and Edward N. Peterson (1963-1965/6). When the department was broken up, Dr. Peterson became chairman of the History Department.

This series is a composite, containing files on Dr. Wyman, Graham, Peterson, and James T. King of the History faculty. These materials were received in several accessions; many of the folder headings were created at the time of archival processing.

Particularly significant materials are found in the Charles J. Graham correspondence folders.
